COURSE DESCRIPTION
It is fast becoming apparent to those in positions of leadership that the experience of racism is not just the incidents of casual or overt racism that are recorded or reported, but also the more subtle and pervasive biases and discriminations that persist in institutions, organisations and society at large. Becoming an anti-racist organisation is about acknowledging the systemic nature of racism and its historical impacts, and then taking proactive steps to address and undo that at work and in our communities.
The Workplace Anti-Racism Empowerment programme is for those who are committed to the elimination of prejudice and discrimination in the world, and are ready to start in the workplace. In this training we will begin by building racial justice literacy and awareness of history, which will allow us to deconstruct the social construct of ‘race’ and begin establishing an understanding of oneness. The phrase “not being racist is not enough” is gaining traction and to empower your team members, this training session is specifically designed to equip them with the tools and insights to proactively discuss, address and mitigate issues of racism with confidence, clarity and professionalism.
Together we can all build a more socially cohesive, inclusive and connected world, and anti-racism is a necessary part of the journey. This is as much about future-proofing our organisations, as it is about genuinely impacting positive social change.
